Sam Hall is a Dandenong Ranges-based artist primarily known for graffiti and street art. His grandfather, Leo Buckley, a well-known Melbourne artist from Gembrook, inspired him to make art from age 5. Becoming an artist himself helps Sam honour his grandfather’s creative legacy. Sam began exploring graffiti art when he moved out of home at age 16 and found it the best way to express himself. His original works were inspired by the ‘beam’, the musical notation that connects multiple notes in rhythmic groupings. Sam grew up and went to school in Upwey before studying a Certificate 3 in Visual Arts at Box hill institute. This study has fuelled his passion for art even more. When Sam paints, he thinks of his grandfather and is inspired by the thought that he is watching over him and making him proud. Sam firmly believes that you must passionately follow your dreams, pursue them with haste and that life is too precious and fleeting to waste.
